Overcast and overlong?

Today is my final day at the golf course, and it's certainly been an experience. More golf than I've ever watched in my life, hobnobbing with various journalists and photographers, chatting with Alice Cooper and Chris Evans - it's all very surreal, but very interesting.
Overcast skies are still looming over me at the Celtic Manor golf course, however. It's looking increasingly like it's going to rain, and none of the rounds are even close to finishing! A late start as well as stilted rounds from many of the golfers has led to a slow-moving day here at the All*Star Cup. Jodie Kidd arrived this morning swearing at husband Hayden, and took no less than two bottles of (what I personally think is vile) Lucozade out on the course with her.
You may have seen the stories in the papers about the chaos at the gala dinner, held on the eve of the golf tournament at the Celtic Manor hotel. I wrote a little about it in my last blog - not only did Brucey get a bit pissed off with the lighting for his auction, and Phil Tufnell drank far too much and started swearing and messing around, but Gaby Logan had to abandon a golf ball auction after it all went to pot. Or hole...well, I tried - comedy is perhaps not my strong suit.
A member of the Celtic Manor resort team exclusively revealed to Digital Spy today that the night before the gala dinner many of the stars stayed up till quarter to five in the morning drinking and chatting in the hotel bar. A long day of practice play followed, and things started to run behind - an hour and a half, to be exact. It makes the shortness of the stars after the gala dinner a little more understandable. A long, long day and exhausted stars do not mix well.
Finally, some humour. This came from the appearance of Meatloaf, Chris Evans, Ian Wright and Richard Burgi on the tee-off point at the seventh hole, as they decided to speed up a decidedly sluggish game by teeing off all at the same time, leaving the crowd roaring. Meatloaf, as ever, kept up everyone's spirits, later accidentally hitting his ball into a spectator's bag, leaving him to delve for it. Rather than simply move it out of the bag, the rock star decided instead to hunt through the bag, picking out a packet of scotch eggs before gathering the bag up and running to the green before dropping the contents of the bag onto the grass!
After his appearance last year in the clubhouse, rumours were rife that Robbie Williams would be watching this year - helicopters and tinted-window cars were eagerly peered at for any sign of the elusive star. He is variously rumoured to be performing, in the South of France or simply at home. However, it doesn't look like Robbie, best pal of on-course reporter Jonathan Wilkes, is set to make an appearance.
Bruce Forsyth and James Nesbitt have just won the cup for Europe with Forsyth's winning putt. However, it's not all over for the Americans, as player of the tournament is yet to be announced, with Bradley Walsh, Bruce Forsyth, Chris Evans, Alice Cooper, Aidan Quinn and Patrick Duffy in contention for the honour, which Evans received last year.
