Blanchett: 'Wrinkles can be sexy'

Cate Blanchett has criticised celebrities who use plastic surgery to get rid of wrinkles.

The actress, 39, said she finds Hollywood's obsession with cosmetic surgery unpleasant, arguing that aged skin could be "sexy".

She told the Herald Sun "For me, I think what will be sexy in 50 years time will be wrinkles.

"Look at a man or a woman in their 50s and all I see when they have brushed their years away with surgery is self-obsession and fear. That's not particularly attractive."

Blanchett's next film role will be in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which is scheduled for release at Christmas.
