Joel Madden mocks wedding rumours

Joel Madden has mocked rumours that he is about to marry Nicole Richie.

The singer posted a message on Good Charlotte's official website admitting that he had married the socialite. However when fans clicked the link, a message read: "Haha, just kidding."

Underneath the posting was a picture of two gorillas at a wedding ceremony.

Madden said he created the hoax because he is bored with people asking him about media reports claiming he is preparing to wed Richie.

"I feel really stupid even posting this, but I've been getting calls and texts from my family all week asking me why they weren't invited to my wedding," said Madden.

"I guess the only answer I could give them was that I didn't know we were having one."

He added: "Sooooo if you were p****d at me for not inviting you or even telling you, don't blame me, there's nothing to worry about."
