Paltrow: 'I was obsessed with an ex'

Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted that she was once obsessed with an ex-boyfriend.

The actress plays a woman having an affair with a married man in new movie Two Lovers, in which she stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Vinessa Shaw.

She revealed that she had no trouble understanding her character in the film, telling WENN: "When I was younger I fell in love with someone. He wasn't married, but he was in to drugs. So he wasn't around when I needed him because of that.

"I became quite obsessed with why he didn't turn up when I wanted him to. I was raised by people who love me and I always felt good about myself, but I still got caught up - during that relationship - with thinking that he wasn't there because there was something wrong with me."

Paltrow, who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, added: "I just couldn't understand why things weren't working out."
