Walliams and Lucas support Fern Britton

David Walliams and Matt Lucas have offered supportive words to Fern Britton over her gastric band controversy.

"I love Fern," said Lucas. "Weight is a difficult issue, particularly in this business."

The This Morning presenter was forced to admit she had undergone weight loss surgery three weeks ago.

Walliams joked: "I love Fern, I think she may be my all-time fantasy - a woman of size with something to hold on to."

The comedian acknowledged that none of his ex-girlfriends had been large. "Yes, but none of them have been tiny things," he said. "They have all had boobs and curves, which is just how I like them."
