McConaughey paparazzo attacked by surfers

A paparazzo trying to photograph Matthew McConaughey was attacked by angry surfers, reports say.

A 29-year-old photographer, who was taking pictures of McConaughey at a beach in Malibu, told police that he had his camera thrown into the sea after being confronted by surfers.

Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County sheriff's department, said: "There was apparently a fight, and the photographer gave a statement that he received injuries."

A video posted on TMZ showed men in swimsuits approaching a group of paparazzi and shouting abuse at them.

One of the surfers said: "We'll draw a line in the beach, and we'll fight for the beach. If you guys win, you can have the beach."

Another member of the group told a photographer to "get a real job", to which he said: "This is a real job. What do you do?"

The surfer replied: "I just drink beer and party."
