The Scottish actor, who plays hero Wesley Gibson in new action movie Wanted, confessed that he did not enjoy training his body for his latest role.
Speaking about his toned physique in the movie, McAvoy told Parade: "[It was] not a special effect. It was the result of a lot of time at the gym - which I hated.
"I would actually rather eat dog poo than exercise."
McAvoy also revealed that his dietary requirements left him with bouts of wind while filming.
"I was also trying to take these super-protein supplements and they gave me incredible bouts of flatulence which wouldn't have endeared me to the rest of the cast," he added.
