The former This Morning presenter, who was cleared of two counts of indecent assault on an actress in 2003, said the new claims are "completely untrue".
He was arrested and bailed in connection with the investigation after attending a London police station by appointment last night.
He told reporters: "Regrettably, as has happened in the past, the details of a private police inquiry have been leaked to the press and once again I face trial by media."
The 43-year-old, who also hosted Blue Peter, has worked as a property developer since accusations concerning his private life left his career in tatters.
He said of the new claims: "I am accused of attacking a person 13 years ago. I do not even know who this person is. I certainly did not attack this person and I have never attacked anyone."
He added: "If I sound bitter, it is because I am."
