Anne Hathaway asked to collect pet dog

Anne Hathaway is expected to soon be reunited with her pet dog - after hearing that her ex-boyfriend's mother cannot look after the pooch properly.

The Devil Wears Prada actress left behind her two-year-old Labrador Esmerelda when she walked out of her Trump Tower apartment after splitting from Raffaello Follieri earlier this month.

According to the New York Post, the animal is currently being cared for by Follieri's mother, who is battling cancer. Meanwhile, Follieri is behind bars after being charged with money laundering.

A source told the newspaper: "He can't afford a dog-walker and his mother has cancer. I feel bad for the dog. She's a beautiful, sweet dog."

Hathaway has been asked to collect the pooch as soon as possible.
