Former EastEnders star Shane Richie has topped a poll to find Britain's cheesiest celebrity.

The 44-year-old, who played Alfie Moon in the BBC soap for three years, beat Torchwood actor John Barrowman in the survey by Edam cheese.

Graham Norton, Bruce Forsyth and Dale Winton rounded out the top five on the list, which also included Noel Edmonds, Richard Madeley and Carol Smillie.

Richie started out as a Pontin's Bluecoat and has fronted several gameshows since making his TV debut in 1991. He also appeared in the 'Daz Doorstep Challenge' washing powder adverts.

An Edam spokesman said: "We weren't surprised Shane topped the poll as he is a natural entertainer with just the right amount of cheese."
