Ritchie accepts Madonna marriage is over

Guy Ritchie has now accepted that he does not have a future with Madonna, according to a report today.

The film director had hoped to save his marriage for the sake of their son Rocco when he travelled out to New York for a meeting with the Queen of Pop this week.

Ritchie told Madonna that he would even be willing to relocate the family to the Big Apple - a prospect he had always previously resisted despite his wife's wishes. However, Madonna reportedly turned down the offer because she no longer wants to live with him.

A source told The Mirror: "Guy did a lot of soul-searching after Madonna asked him for a divorce and thought he may be able to salvage the situation by agreeing to leave London full-time for the Big Apple.

"He knew it was a long shot but he will do anything to keep the family together. Yet no sooner had he told her than she said it wasn't an option any more. It's all very sad but Guy is now resigned to them living apart."

Madonna's publicist Liz Rosenberg has insisted that the conversation did not take place. She added: "There's no break-up or divorce plan and they live together when work allows them to."

The couple put on a public show of unity earlier this week in an attempt to silence talk about their marriage.
