Tatum O'Neal has pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct following her arrest for crack cocaine possession.

The actress, an Oscar-winner at the age of ten for her role in Paper Moon, was stopped by police after being spotted exchanging money with a man near her New York home last month.

She was told by a Manhattan judge that the case would be thrown out providing she attended a drug treatment programme.

The 44-year-old will next appear in court on September 4 to prove that she has attended two half-day rehab sessions.

O'Neal was married to ex-tennis star John McEnroe for six years. She lost custody of their three children due to her drug addiction.
