Gillespie offers sympathy to Winehouse

Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie has said he feels sorry for Amy Winehouse.

The frontman described the media coverage of Winehouse as "sick" and claimed that some people are just waiting for her to die.

"To be honest with you, I think there's a lot of people just hanging around with cameras waiting for that shot when she finally ODs," he told Loaded.

"It's sick. I feel sorry for her, having 40 blokes outside her house all the time."

However, Gillespie had less sympathy for troubled rocker Pete Doherty.

"Well, I think Peter has learnt to manipulate the mass media very well - especially the tabloids," commented the rocker. "That's how he does his press, I suppose. I think Pete likes the attention."
