The star's alleged victim Miad Jarbou is seeking more than $25,000 in damages with the lawsuit, which was filed on Thursday in the Oakland County Circuit Court.
Jarbou has stated that he was punched by Eminem, real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III, "without warning or provocation" in a bathroom at a Detroit strip club on July 13, 2006. He claims to have "undergone physical pain and suffering, emotional distress, ongoing serious injuries requiring medical treatment" as well as "embarrassment, humiliation, medical expenses, wage loss and other economic and non-economic" damages.
News of an incident at the club had been reported at the time of the alleged attack, but the rapper never faced charges.
Eminem's spokesman Dennis Dennehy has so far refused to comment on the lawsuit.
