Russell Brand admits he 'misses' heroin

Russell Brand has opened up about his struggle to stay away from heroin.

The comedian decided that he wanted to beat his addiction in 2003 and has since done so successfully, but he has admitted that he sometimes longs for his old life.

"I miss heroin, being able to turn my head off and everything being far away and irrelevant," Brand explained. "I miss that very much. But it's too high a price to pay."

Russell added that his decision to give up on drugs and alcohol has resulted in a "happier" life for himself and his loved ones.

He said: "I don't drink or take drugs. It was five years on December 13. One day at a time. That's my position, currently. I think I'm happier. My mum's happier. I thought that would be justification enough."

Brand is believed to be involved in a new romance with actress Teresa Palmer.
