Tess Daly will be married to Kay "for life"

Tess Daly has revealed that she feels "optimistic" about the future of her marriage to Vernon Kay.

The TV host, who has been with Vernon for eight years, admitted that she cannot see herself ever wanting to split from her husband.

"Our parents were married for life so that's the attitude I've gone into marriage with," Tess told The Mirror. "That's what I expect. I'd like to think he has the same attitude! He does really - that's the stock we've come from.

"There was no divorce in my family. I know times have changed and divorce rates have gone through the roof. But I've gone into marriage with an optimistic viewpoint."

Daly added that effective communication is one of the secrets behind her successful partnership with Vernon.

"We never go for more than a couple of weeks without having some grown-up time," she explained. "I make sure we have a nice meal somewhere romantic. It's a chance to dress up and talk like adults without any distractions."
