Comic Mayall given honorary degree

TV comedian Rik Mayall will receive an honorary degree at Exeter University this week.

Other stars including Sir David Attenborough, Jonathan Dimbleby and author Ken Follett are also being celebrated by the university.

Mayall will be given his honorary doctorate of letters degree by Professor Sir Martin Harris.

The ceremonies, which began yesterday and end on Friday, will see 3,000 students awarded degrees.
