Mariah Carey wanted to be kidnapped

Mariah Carey has admitted that she often hoped to be kidnapped during low periods in her life.

The singer revealed that being abducted was her biggest fantasy when she could see no solution to her personal problems.

"When I was in an unhappy place in my life, I always wanted to be kidnapped," Carey told Elle. "I just wanted a way out, but I didn't have one."

She also confirmed that she is besotted with her new husband Nick Cannon. The couple tied the knot in April after they had been dating for just five weeks.

Carey added: "They've been calling me Cinderella since I first started out. Most people would think, 'OK, please. This doesn't happen in real life.'"
