Amy MacDonald announces engagement

Amy MacDonald has announced that she is engaged to her footballer boyfriend Steve Lovell.

The Scottish singer revealed that she is keen to make a commitment to her partner, but has not yet set a wedding date.

"It's true. I'm engaged," Amy told the Daily Record. "We're so in love and looking forward to the big day."

A friend of MacDonald added: "Amy's madly in love. They're a great couple. They have a similar sense of humour and Amy thinks Stevie understands her better than just about anyone."

Amy, who mocked WAG culture on her chart-topping album This Is The Life, has always insisted that she will not be a typical footballer's wife.

She said: "Those people I sang about are famous because of who they are married to. I've made my own way, so it's not the same."
