Chris Evans has jumped from a plane with a parachute display team to overcome his fear of death, the Press Association reports.

The Radio 2 DJ made the jump at 13,000ft above Salisbury Plain yesterday.

Evans was trained in tandem sky diving by the parachute team and was strapped to leader Corporal Dave Clarke for the 35-second freefall.

After landing, the 42-year-old described the jump as "amazing" and revealed that he sang an Elton John song as he fell to earth.

"It felt like it was over in seconds," he said. "There's no time to be scared as you are plummeting to the ground. It was great, just amazing.

"I sang 'Are You Ready For Love' all the way down! An awesome, awesome experience; can't wait to do it again."
