Kanye West to play Democratic Convention

Kanye West will play the Democratic National Convention in August.

The hip-hop star will be joined by N.E.R.D and Wyclef Jean at the event, which is part of Barack Obama's campaign to become the American President.

It opens on Monday, August 25 in Denver and will also feature a host of Hollywood stars.

Scarlett Johansson, Ben Affleck, Forrest Whitaker, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Ed Norton are all scheduled to appear at the political function.

Celebrities including Michael Stipe, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Jay-Z, Roger Waters, Will Smith, George Clooney, Jennifer Aniston and John Cleese have previously voiced their support for Obama's campaign.
