Katie Price has hit back at criticism of her nomination for a children's book award.

The glamour model sparked outrage when she was shortlisted for a WH Smith's Children's Book of the Year Award for Perfect Ponies: My Pony Care Book.

The Society of Authors complained that the work was penned with the help of a ghostwriter, with Robert Harris condemning her nomination as "emblematic of the tacky culture we live in".

However, Price, who has just published 17th book Angel Uncovered, said she is unfazed by the opinions of other writers.

Speaking on The Charlotte Church Show, she said: "It does p** a lot of authors off in the book world but who says you have to be a certain person to bring out a book?

"Honestly, the s*** I had that night [at the British Book Awards] from one of the women that won the book, she thought it was a disgrace that I was even nominated. But like I say there’s room for everybody. So b****cks to ‘em, anyway.”

The Charlotte Church Show airs tonight on Channel 4 at 10pm.
