The Hollywood actor's lawyers have warned media outlets not to use snaps taken "surreptitiously" by paparazzi of him and Angelina Jolie at their French estate.
Several sites which had previously linked to the photographs have now removed the offending items.
Pitt's lawyer Yael Holtkamp said the pictures were a "malicious violation" of the family's privacy under French and California law.
Jolie and Pitt, who welcomed twins Knox and Vivienne last month, are currently residing in a villa near Nice.
The couple have sold the rights to the first pictures of their new children to a US magazine for a reported sum of $11 million. All the money will be given to charity.
