Michael: 'Women ignore my sexuality'

George Michael has revealed that his female fans often refuse to accept that he is gay.

Talking about his status as a sex symbol, the popstar said many women take no notice of his sexuality.

Michael, 45, was forced to open up about his sexual preference after he was arrested for propositioning a policeman in a public toilet in 1998.

However, he insisted that it has not affected his popularity with the opposite sex, saying: "Women seem to ignore the fact that I'm gay. I think that women really get the feeling that I understand them.

"I grew up with two sisters, I went out with women when I was younger. I do understand them, unfortunately."
