Efron keen to appear in West End

High School Musical star Zac Efron reportedly wants to appear in the West End.

The teen heartthrob is keen to be viewed as a serious performer and showcase his skills on the London stage.

A source said: "Zac wants to prove what a real actor he is. He wants to show off his full range of talents."

Efron starred in 2007 musical Hairspray as well as two instalments of Disney's smash-hit High School Musical franchise. The third movie is scheduled for release in October.

He has also branched out into non-singing roles, including upcoming period drama Me And Orson Welles and Matthew Perry age-switch comedy Seventeen Again.
