X-Files star Gillian Anderson has admitted that she was left in awe of former US president Bill Clinton's charm.
The 39-year-old recently met Clinton and exchanged a handshake in a lineup of female admirers.
She is quoted as saying: "We all, mostly women, lined up. And when he gets to you, he takes your hand and makes eye contact. After he leaves and he moves on to the next person, he looks back at you and seals the deal."
Anderson added that she secretly hoped Clinton would get in touch with her and ask for a date.
"When I got home, I expected to have a message from him, and I didn't," she said. "I bet women across America expect it too."
The X-Files: I Want To Believe, which reunites Anderson's Dana Scully character with David Duchovny's Fox Mulder, is released in the UK tomorrow.
