Avril Lavigne 'not ready' for children

Avril Lavigne is not planning to have children for another ten years, she has revealed.

The Canadian singer admitted that she does not feel ready to settle down yet, and would prefer to concentrate on her music career for another decade.

"Oh God! I don't want to have kids for like ten years," Avril told OK! magazine. "I still have a lot to do. I don't even know if I could handle a dog right now. I'm so not ready. Someday I'll be a mum but not until I'm in my 30s."

Lavigne is currently busy with her Best Damn Tour, but still manages to keep her marriage to Derek Whibley going strong while they spend time apart.

"We email and talk on the phone. I'm always on my BlackBerry," she explained. "He comes out and visits. I was just in Europe and he came out for two weeks at the beginning of the tour and two weeks at the end of the tour."
