Liz Taylor 'in critical condition'

Dame Elizabeth Taylor has been taken to hospital after suffering from congestive heart failure, say reports.

According to the National Enquirer, Taylor's children were warned by doctors that she may not survive.

The 76-year-old double Oscar winner's health is apparently improving since she was put on a life support machine last week.

"The doctors thought they were going to lose her," said a source. "She's still very sick, but she's past the crisis."

The actress was allegedly admitted to hospital on July 15 after developing pneumonia.

Taylor, who is confined to a wheelchair, suffers from osteoporosis and has had both her hips replaced. She also recovered from a benign brain tumour in 1997.
