Applegate diagnosed with breast cancer

US actress Christina Applegate is undergoing treatment for breast cancer, her publicist has revealed.

The 36-year-old was diagnosed with the condition early and doctors are confident that she will make a full recovery.

Applegate, who made her name in '90s sitcom Married... With Children, was recently nominated for an Emmy for her role in Samantha Who?

Her publicist Ame Van Iden said: "Christina was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. The cancer is not life-threatening.

"Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will make a full recovery."

Applegate won an Emmy in 2003 for her role as Rachel's younger sister on Friends.
