Reese, Jake deny engagement reports

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal have denied reports that they are engaged.

A spokesperson for the couple told People: "They are not engaged, getting married or any of the reports."

The representative described tabloid rumours about the pair's blossoming romance as "lies".

Last week, Life & Style magazine claimed that Gyllenhaal was discussing having children with the 32-year-old actress.

Gyllenhaal and Witherspoon have been dating since April 2007, but have chosen to not speak publicly about their relationship.

Witherspoon has two children, Eva, 8, and Deacon, 4, from her previous marriage with Ryan Phillippe.
