David Beckham won the best male athlete gong at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards.

The American awards bash, which was hosted by Disney star Miley Cyrus, also gave accolades to Steve Carrell, Hayden Panettiere and Chace Crawford.

Beckham beat Tiger Woods, basketball star Kobe Bryant and Superbowl winner Eli Manning to bag the sports title.

The ceremony will be screened to around 20 million viewers tonight.

The former England captain, who signed for LA Galaxy in 2007, also recently appeared on the cover of America's Men's Health magazine.
