Jay-Z explains marriage secrecy

Jay-Z has explained why he and Beyoncé chose not to talk publicly about their marriage.

The rapper claimed it was important for the couple to keep certain elements of their lives away from the media and public.

"You have to have something sacred to you and the people around you," he told Vibe.

"I shared so much of my life… I should have something to hold on to."

He added: "I just think [marriage] is really a part of your life that you gotta keep to yourself."

Jay-Z and Beyoncé tied the knot at the rapper's New York home in April, but the pair have only been spotted wearing their wedding rings in the last few weeks.
