Ritchie's sugar rant 'directed at Madonna'

Guy Ritchie's recent rant about sugar contained cryptic messages about his marriage, a report claims.

Speaking in an interview last month, the movie director explained: "Sugar kills. Think of the calories in sugar. Fat kills more people than anything else. Sugar is responsible for a lot of deaths, arguably more than crack cocaine."

Sources close to the couple have claimed that Ritchie's outburst was inspired by Madonna, who is currently preparing to support her Hard Candy album on a new world tour, titled Sticky & Sweet.

The couple have faced constant rumours that their marriage is on the rocks in recent months. One report has claimed that the pair will announce divorce plans when Madonna's tour is over, though they have denied the suggestions.

One insider told Now magazine: "Guy's many things, but stupid isn't one of them. Can you really believe he's that passionate about sugar?

"Coming from a man whose films are all about gangsters, drugs and murders, it's his way of saying to his wife that she's not going to have it all her own way. Madonna will have to tread carefully if she wants to keep him onside until her tour is over."
