Gazza walks out on ex-wife Sheryl

Paul Gascoigne's reunion with ex-wife Sheryl has hit stormy waters following rows over the star's best friend.

Football legend Gazza has renewed his friendship with old boozing pal Jimmy "Five Bellies" Gardner, sparking concerns that he could fall off the wagon.

Gazza moved back in with Sheryl last month after being discharged from rehab, where he received treatment for alcoholism. They even made plans to remarry later this year - as long as Paul could stay sober.

In one argument, Sheryl reportedly asked Gazza to choose between herself and Gardner. He then stormed out of her home and has not seen her since.

"Sheryl is shattered, she says it's been a week from hell," a source told the Sunday Mirror. "She was in tears, sick with worry, calling up friends and asking them where he was. She just wanted to know he was safe and sober.

"They'd had a series of rows but Paul is very vulnerable at the moment and the slightest bit of stress can send him off on one. Sheryl loves him very much and just wants him to be safe, but he's such a loose cannon."

The newspaper claims that Gazza went to stay at a hotel in Beamish, Co Durham, after the row before moving on to another in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. He has told friends that he needed to "clear his head" following the arguments with Sheryl.
