Knightley talks openly to mum about sex

Keira Knightley has revealed that she feels comfortable speaking to her mother about sex.

The actress admitted that her playwright mum Sharman Macdonald encouraged her to be open about her romances when she was a teenager.

"Mum and I would always talk about sex," Knightley explained. "She'd come up to my room, have me roll her cigarettes and then tell me I had to have one with her. It's not the typical mother-daughter thing but we're extremely close."

She added: "Mum's a bit mental in a good way. She's this chilled-out hippy mother. My house was always the one where my brother and his mates would be drinking when they shouldn't be."

Macdonald penned Knightley's most recent movie The Edge of Love last year.
