Katherine Heigl hopes to stop sinning

Katherine Heigl has vowed to take her religion more seriously in the coming years - as she feels "ashamed" about her lack of discipline.

The 29-year-old Grey's Anatomy actress was raised as a Mormon, but has paid little attention to her church's strict rules in recent years.

"I'm not as disciplined about it as I once was, but I hope to find my way back as I get older and a little less selfish," Heigl explained.

She added: "If I start going back to church I'd have to stop the smoking and drinking, and I wouldn't be able to curse any more. I'm ashamed to say that I've got very lazy about it all."

Heigl's future with Grey's Anatomy was thrown into doubt in June after she criticised the quality of storylines involving her character Izzie Stevens. However, producers later confirmed that she would be sticking with the programme.
