Madonna Milestones: Madge marries Guy Ritchie

December 22, 2000: Madonna has married British director Guy Ritchie at a ceremony in the Scottish Highlands.

The event, which was steeped in Ritchie's Scottish heritage, was held at the Skibo Castle near Dornock in Sutherland.

Madonna was given away by her father Tony Ciccone, and was watched by her four-year-old daughter Lourdes.

Celebrity onlookers included Sting, who wore a kilt, his wife Trudie, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, producer Matthew Vaughn and nightclub boss Piers Adam.

Rupert Everett, Stella McCartney and Donatella Versace were also invited. All guests were treated to a smoked salmon and haggis champagne reception.

The couple are rumoured to be spending their honeymoon at Sting's Grade 1 listed Tudor mansion in Wiltshire.
