Gael García Bernal to become a father

Actor Gael García Bernal has confirmed that his girlfriend Dolore Fonzi is expecting a child.

The Motorcycles Diaries star, 29, issued a statement through Canana Films to announce the news.

It read: "This statement is to say that, after so much speculation and comments, the actors Dolores Fonzi and Gael García Bernal are indeed expecting a baby at the start of next year."

Bernal met the Argentine actress while they were shooting Private Lives in 2002.

He was previously linked to Natalie Portman.
