John Mayer explains Aniston break-up

John Mayer has revealed the reasons behind his break-up with Jennifer Aniston last week.

The musician, who began dating Aniston in April, said the split was friendly and praised his ex in a statement at the weekend.

"There's no lying, there's no cheating, there's no nothing," he said. "Jennifer Aniston is the smartest, most sophisticated person I think I have ever met."

Explaining the break-up, he commented: "People are different, people have different chemistry.

"I ended a relationship to be alone, because I don't want to waste somebody's time if something's not right."
