Sly Stallone to promote Russian vodka

Sylvester Stallone has signed up to front an advertising campaign for Synergy vodka brand Russky Lyod.

Stallone will begin appearing in TV commercials and newspaper advertisements for the beverage from September 1.

The deal is rumoured to be worth $1 million.

"By inviting one of the most popular movie stars, such as Sylvester Stallone, to take part in Russky Lyod advertising campaign, we set a precedent not only for the distilled spirits sector but for the whole Russian advertising market," said a spokesperson for Synergy.

"We are confident that the new campaign will enhance the brand's recognisability and propel it to the top of sub-premium segment."

The campaign will apparently be based around the slogan: "There is a bit of Russian in all of us."
