Madonna has allegedly sought legal advice to prevent love letters she sent to an ex-boyfriend from being shown at an exhibition, according to The Mirror.

James Albright, the popstar's former lover and bodyguard, intends to make 17 raunchy letters available for public viewing at next year's Simply Madonna show in London.

A source said: "Who'd want private sentiments to someone they loved revealed? Lawyers sent a warning. She hopes it will work."

The notes are reportedly signed 'Spanky' and sealed with a lipstick kiss.

More than 300 items of Madonna memorabilia will go on display at London's Old Truman Brewery from February 21 to March 22.
