Paul Gascoigne 'disowns' his family

Paul Gascoigne has reportedly 'disowned' his family following their attempts to convince him to return home for further rehab treatment.

The ex-footballer has travelled across Europe with drinking pal Jimmy "Five Bellies" Gardner since he walked out on his partner Sheryl last month. He had been discharged from rehab after receiving treatment for alcoholism just days earlier.

Gazza's family have been begging him to seek help for his problems in a series of telephone calls, but he has now tried to break contact with them because he is tired of being "lectured".

"He's out of control. He has hit the self-destruct button," one relative told the Daily Star. "All we want is for him to come back to England and get treatment. But he just goes on drinking. He appears to have a death wish. It's just awful."

Yesterday, it emerged that Gazza had appeared to hallucinate following a five-day booze binge in Portugal.

A family friend added: "No-one can understand what Jimmy was thinking of taking Paul on holiday. It was a recipe for disaster."
