O'Connell apologises for 'huge' wife joke

Jerry O'Connell has apologised for calling his wife Rebecca Romijn "huge" on a US talkshow.

During an appearance on Late Night With Conan O'Brien last Friday, O'Connell joked that Romijn had piled on weight since becoming pregnant with twin girls.

He told People: "I regret calling my wife 'huge' on Conan O'Brien.

"I meant to say that there are specific areas of my wife that are larger than normal and growing every day. All other portions of my wife are quite petite. I apologise to her and will be coming home with flowers."

Romijn, a former model, has starred in X-Men, Godsend and Ugly Betty. O'Connell's acting roles include Stand By Me, Scream 2 and Mission To Mars.

The couple are expecting their daughters this winter.
