Speaking to National Trust magazine, the Prince voiced his admiration for Oliver's BAFTA-winning series.
"There is no doubt that many chefs have done a huge amount to raise awareness of quality food and how it is produced," he said. "They have rekindled a fascination with food and I do congratulate them.
"Of course, Jamie Oliver's brilliant school food campaign stands out and I have to confess that I wrote him a fan letter after his television series."
Jamie's School Dinners saw the chef campaign to ban fatty foods from school menus in favour of healthier meals. The show prompted the government to pay for better school meals and introduce a junk food ban.
