Jonas Brothers: 'Brand is hilarious'

The Jonas Brothers have insisted that they were not upset when Russell Brand made fun of them at the MTV Video Music Awards.

During his opening monologue at the ceremony, Brand mocked the brothers' purity rings and their promise to stay virgins until their wedding night.

However, Nick Jonas told BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat that the band was not offended by the jokes.

"For us, it's cool to see that he recognises we are gentlemen," he said, adding: "[He] did a good job."

Nick revealed that he had previously seen Brand on a late night talkshow in the US and "thought he was hilarious".

Meanwhile, Kevin Jonas said Brand's opening monologue could have benefited from exploring a wider range of subjects.

"I think he focused on certain things and didn't move off them," he said. "People's attention spans in America need more than that."
