Kidman named 'most overpaid celebrity'

Nicole Kidman has been named Hollywood's most overpaid celebrity by business magazine Forbes.

The actress, whose recent films include the under-performing Invasion, Margot At The Wedding and The Golden Compass, reportedly brings in just $1 for every dollar she is paid.

"Despite winning an Oscar for her performance in 2002's The Hours, Kidman has become the most overpaid celebrity in Hollywood," the publication said.

Jennifer Garner was placed second in the list ($3.60 for every dollar), with Kidman's ex-husband Tom Cruise in third ($4 for every dollar).

Cameron Diaz, Jim Carrey, Nicolas Cage, Drew Barrymore, Will Ferrell and Cate Blanchett also featured in the top ten.

Forbes compiled its bankability list by dividing the total earnings of an actor's last three films by the gross income to get the star's payback total.

The success of American Gangster has meant that last year's number one Russell Crowe has improved his worth, earning $10.80 for every dollar he was paid to star in the Ridley Scott drama.
