McGowan: 'I would have joined IRA'

Actress Rose McGowan has stated that she would have joined the IRA if she had been raised in Belfast.

Speaking at the Toronto Film Festival, McGowan, who plays an IRA femme fatale in Fifty Dead Men Walking, remarked that she would have been "100%" behind the group.

"My heart just broke for the cause. Violence is not to be played out daily and provide an answer to problems, but I understand it," she said.

Last month, McGowan insisted that she will play the lead in a remake of Barbarella.
