Winehouse snubs her own birthday bash

Amy Winehouse left guests in the lurch when she shunned her own 25th birthday party at the weekend because she thought she looked too ugly.

The troubled singer's friend Remi Nicole attempted to persuade the reluctant birthday girl to attend the bash. Waiting at London’s Jazz After Dark club were guests including Adele, Mark Ronson and Amy's mum Janis.

However, the star refused to leave her house in Camden and guests had to eat the guitar-shaped birthday cake without even seeing her.

A friend told The Sun: "Amy was standing in front of the mirror telling everyone how rough she looked.

"Unfortunately her lifestyle has had a major effect on her appearance and it has only just started to sink in. She kept saying she was ugly and was in an awful state. They couldn’t get her out."

The friend said Winehouse can be "very selfish", adding that she ruined the night for everyone.
