Matt Damon and Wyclef Jean have toured Haiti to highlight the havoc Hurricane Ike and Tropical Storm Hanna have wreaked on the Island.

Actor Damon joined the Haitian-born singer to hand out rice, beans and cooking oil in Cabaret, a town that saw 60 people die in flash floods last week.

Damon and Jean encouraged people to help the United Nations raise more than £56million for 800,000 Haitians in need.

"What I'm doing, I'm doing from the heart because I love Haiti," Jean told The Associated Press.

"Hopefully we can make enough noise that people will pay attention," Damon added.

In 2006, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt carried out a goodwill trip to give their support to the afflicted island.
