Ellison signs up for 'Worlds' musical

Jennifer Ellison is to star in the 2009 UK tour of musical The War Of The Worlds.

The former Brookside actress will play the role of Beth in the production, which marks the 30th anniversary of Jeff Wayne's original piece.

Ellison revealed that she is excited to be taking part in the show, saying: "Growing up as a little girl, I remember hearing Jeff Wayne's The War Of The Worlds at home, and I am absolutely thrilled to now be taking part in this landmark 30th anniversary tour."

Composer Jeff Wayne commented that the musical has gained the services of a "unique lady".

"Her range and depth of work continues to grow. I welcome her into next year's production of The War Of The Worlds," he said.
